Snow

Austin & Kendall | Winter Engagement

I kicked off 2017 with this snowy engagement session for Austin + Kendall. These two were so easy and FUN to photograph and I can't wait for their Greenbluff Wedding this fall. They met in college at Whitworth University and Austin proposed last Spring right before Kendall graduated. I had been following Kendall on Instagram and I love reading her sweet words about marrying her best friend, wedding decisions, and her love and faith in the Lord. I know she wants their wedding day to be perfect, but more importantly I know they are both deeply invested in one another and their faith.

I am looking forward to celebrating and documenting this great love story in September! xo

Green Family

Wintery Home Session in Spokane, WA

Spokane was pretty magical during the holiday's this year! A fresh dusting of snow almost every day of Christmas week created the most beautiful setting for this extended family session on December 26! The Green kids + spouses were all home together for the holidays and gave this session to their parents as a Christmas gift. I couldn't of asked for a more perfect location to shoot my very last session for 2015!

Thank you for inviting me to your gorgeous home!

Planning for a Winter Session

It seems like I just shot this session, but it actually took place LAST November! Aren't these kids so adorable!? I get to shoot this family again in a few weeks, so it is high time that I share these images!

Anyone else notice the dramatic change in weather in the last week? October was beautiful and unseasonably warm in Spokane, but November is here and winter is settling in with expected highs only in the 40’s this week. This doesn’t sound all that chilly at first, but it gets cold fast especially when little ones are involved. I have had clients show up in light layers (no coats!) for winter sessions and within about 10 minutes everyone starts to look stiff and uncomfortable. Family sessions generally last 45 – 60 minutes in length and I can’t stress the importance of warm clothes enough! Layer, layer, layer! And please bring coats, hats, and mittens for little ones!

I love the outfits this family chose to wear and wanted to highlight this session for anyone else preparing for a winter session. And for more ideas on how to bundle up for winter sessions, visit my Pinterest board.
