Planning for a Winter Session

It seems like I just shot this session, but it actually took place LAST November! Aren't these kids so adorable!? I get to shoot this family again in a few weeks, so it is high time that I share these images!

Anyone else notice the dramatic change in weather in the last week? October was beautiful and unseasonably warm in Spokane, but November is here and winter is settling in with expected highs only in the 40’s this week. This doesn’t sound all that chilly at first, but it gets cold fast especially when little ones are involved. I have had clients show up in light layers (no coats!) for winter sessions and within about 10 minutes everyone starts to look stiff and uncomfortable. Family sessions generally last 45 – 60 minutes in length and I can’t stress the importance of warm clothes enough! Layer, layer, layer! And please bring coats, hats, and mittens for little ones!

I love the outfits this family chose to wear and wanted to highlight this session for anyone else preparing for a winter session. And for more ideas on how to bundle up for winter sessions, visit my Pinterest board.
