Countdown to Christmas

Christmas Book Advent Calendar 2016

I have a thing for Christmas books. I started collecting them when my twins were born in 2001 and well, now my collection fills an entire bin. Three years ago, I started wrapping the books to use for a Christmas countdown. My youngest was just two and she was beyond excited to open a new book each night and read by the Christmas tree. Her excitement was completely contagious and even my teenagers wanted to join in for the stories. I love that these simple stories have the power to bring us together, slow down time (even for a few minutes), and remind us to listen.

I use these simple tags to label each book. You just need 2 pieces of cardstock to print these out. I have printed them on white and kraft paper and both look great.

Here are a few of our tried and true favorite books. Many of these have been gifts to us or purchased through the years. Check out Barnes and Noble after Christmas as well because all the books are 50% off! I try and pick up 1 or 2 new ones each year. Everyone in my family would agree that Little Porcupine's Christmas is our #1 favorite! I found out last year that this book is no longer in print, but you can find used paperback copies on Amazon. The hardback copies are hard to find and very expensive. Buy a paperback copy if you can, you will love it!

Happy Christmas countdown! I can't wait for Thursday!
