Everyday Life | July

After a very busy + amazing FALL season, I am excited to get back to some personal editing and the Everyday Life blog posts. Lots to catch up on!! It's only 28 degrees today, but it sure was HOT in July. We spent time up at Greenbluff picking strawberries, a wonderful 4th of July holiday at our family cabin, a fun little tea party with friends, and lots of time at home playing with water! We have the best evening light in our backyard! :-)

Read June Everyday Life post here.

I started Everyday Life, a monthly blog post, in January 2014 as a personal commitment to keep shooting, editing, and sharing my family photos. Follow along on Instagram too at @leavingamarkphoto or #oureverydaylife2014.

Saying Goodbye

My family gathered this past Sunday morning to honor and celebrate the life of Barbara Ellen Johnson. Known to me as my sweet Grandma Barbie. She passed away in October at the age of 97. She lived near Edmonds Beach and it was one of her most favorite places in the world - the perfect place for us to gather in her memory. We shared stories. We laughed. We cried. We prayed. And we said goodbye. She was an incredible woman and lived life to the fullest! Married to my Grandpa for 68 years, an amazing mother of 3 (and mother-in-law to 3), a grandma to 7 (+7 spouses), and great grandma to 16. Altogether there are 36 of us! My grandma loved her family with great intention. She always made you feel special and important and gave away her most precious gift to each one of us...her time. She always made time for you.

Without a doubt, she is dancing up in Heaven in my Grandpa's arms at this very moment. I'm willing to bet that "I just want to dance with you" by George Strait is playing in the background. :-)

She will be deeply missed. What a legacy she left.

Love you so very much Grandma! xo

Joe | Class of 2015

Joe is easy going and up for anything! We had a lot of fun exploring downtown for his senior session. Joe plays the electric bass and is starting to write his own music. I heard he even reads poetry! He also enjoys movies, Xbox, and fishing. I hope your senior year is the best yet!

More from Joe....

I was…withdrawn

I am…confident

I think…methodically

I wonder…what will come

I wish…I was batman

I save…my money

I always…procrastinate

I can’t imagine…taken everything seriously

I believe…in Santa

I promise…to protect my family

I love…food

Demske Family

Record temp of 101 degrees when this session took place in late July! Everyone powered through with the promise of treats and water at the end…it was HOT! This family recently moved back to Spokane after living overseas and we connected through a mutual friend…I am so grateful for referred business. Thank you Demske family!

Keegan | Class of 2015

Keegan is quite the character! He had a little too much fun with his senior questionnaire (see answers below!). He says he was “raised by a pack of wolves” – but I met his parents (and brother) during the session and I would have to disagree! You will most likely find him on his snowboard up at Mt. Spokane this winter and he is hoping to attend WSU after he graduates. I am not taking his less-than-enthusiastic answers to heart, because under that cool exterior is a big sweetheart! Have a fabulous senior year!

Keegan's thoughts...

I was…raised by a pack of wolves.

I am…2 cul 4 skul.

I think…this whole thing is stupid.

I wish…I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller, I wish I had a girl and if I did I would call her.

I (can’t) save…my brother from his stupidity.

I always…clean behind my ears.

I can’t imagine…wasting another minute of my life writing this.

I believe…I can fly.

I promise…to never do this again.

I love…long walks on the beach.
